Most things are settled at the query. If one can’t be, either of you can raise it as an issue and get help resolving it. If that doesn’t settle it, it becomes a dispute. Where the question is whether the work meets the standard you agreed, an independent expert decides, and work done to that standard is paid.
Changes agreed before the work, not argued about at the end.
When the job changes, write the variation down with its price and any effect on the dates. It only counts once Sarah accepts it, and its money is paid in like any other stage.
Dates move too. If you’re held up by site access, materials, weather or building control, log the cause, and the record shows the delay wasn’t down to you.

Show your customer how the job will run before they sign: clear stages, each paid in before it starts, and changes agreed before the work. It’s a safer way for them to pay, and an easier quote to say yes to.
A customer who is nervous about paying ahead can go ahead without you carrying all of the payment risk instead.

Is the money there before I start?
Yes. Each stage is paid in through a separate regulated payment provider before it starts, and you can see it’s there.
When do I get paid?
When your customer approves payment for the stage, or after the agreed review time and a final notice. The money reaches your account the next day. Running several jobs? You can take one payout a week instead, which makes reconciliation easier.
What if my customer doesn’t reply?
They have the review time you agreed, then a reminder and a final notice. Then the payment goes ahead. A query pauses the review time. This doesn’t apply to the final stage, or to one waiting on a certificate.
What if they’re not happy with part of a stage?
They approve payment for what’s done and raise a query on the rest, with a reason. Only that part waits. You can reply, put it right and add a photo.
What if we still can’t agree?
Either of you can take it to a dispute. If it’s about whether the work meets the agreed standard, an independent expert decides. Work done to that standard is paid.
Can I be paid for materials before I start?
Yes, as its own stage with its own list, such as ‘materials delivered to site’. Not as a vague deposit.
Does Assurr judge my work?
No. It records what was agreed, what you showed and what was decided. It doesn’t inspect or certify work, or replace your contract.
Can my team use it?
Yes. Add them to the jobs they’re on, and they can open each stage on their phone, add photos, answer questions and message you. They can’t approve anything or move money.
Why is my business checked?
Every builder who takes payments through Assurr has their business identity checked first, including against sanctions lists. It tells your customer who they’re paying. It isn’t a rating of your work.
